The ship is composed of many parts, according to the role and use of each part, can be summarized into the hull, ship power plant, ship electrical and other three parts.
The hull is the basic part of the ship, which can be divided into the main part and the superstructure part. The main part generally refers to the part below the upper deck. It is a hollow body with a specific shape surrounded by the hull (bottom and side) and the upper deck. It is a key part to ensure that the ship has the required buoyancy, navigation performance and hull strength. The hull is generally used to arrange power plants, load cargo, store fuel oil and fresh water, and arrange other various compartments.
In order to ensure the strength of the hull, improve the settlement resistance of the ship and arrange various compartments, a number of strong watertight bulkheads and inner bottoms are usually set up to form a certain number of watertight compartments in the main body, and an intermediate deck or platform is added as required to divide the main body into several layers horizontally.
The superstructure is located above the upper deck, surrounded by left and right side walls, front and rear end walls and each deck, and its interior is mainly used to arrange cabins for various purposes, such as working cabins, living cabins, storage cabins, instrument and equipment cabins, etc. The size, floor and type of superstructure vary according to the use and size of the ship.
